Instructions
Things You’ll Need:
* Keyless remote
* Key
1.
Open the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s driver door. This door must remain open during the entire procedure. Closing this door will cause the remote to not be programmed.
2.
Locate the receiver bulb on the ceiling of the passenger compartment. This is located near the windshield in the middle of the ceiling panel. This bulb receives the signal from the remote.
3.
Place the key in the ignition and turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position. Do not start the vehicle. Starting the vehicle will cause the remotes to not program.
4.
Lock the doors to the Cherokee using the power lock button. Make sure all of the doors lock.
5.
Point the remote at the bulb. Press and hold the “LOCK” button on the remote until the doors unlock.
6.
Turn the vehicle off and remove the key. Test the remote for proper operation.
Did it myself on my JGC 4.7 V8 and it worked 🙂

i have the same jeep you do but idk where i can get a remote can you help?
The easiest way is to contact Chrysler and have in hand your VIN of your jeep. It’ll be set up right away. Or you may try get some secondhand unit(s) and try “pairing” them with your Jeep. Unfortunately. I sold mine a while ago,so can’t assist further. Read the article and it may work…
Wheres the ceiling of the compartment, is this inside the compartment ??< and also located near the windshield in the middle of the of ceiling panel, where is this located. ?? pls help
thanks
As far as I remember, it was located at/near the mirror (in the midle of windscreen)… Sold the baby long ago, so guessing…
i have a 2002 and i belives its on the dash
What GC model it worked for? year?
10x
Mine was 4.7 V8 from 2002.
Will it work with a 2003?
Not sure. If no major changes it might.
Doesn’t work. Did it on my 5.7 and when you follow step 4 the doors won’t lock with the key in the ignition.
What year is yours? Mine was 2002. Maybe different engine can cause it. Try again. I was successful on 2nd time.
I just got a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had a 2003 Jeep and have the remote from it. think I can use that one for my 2004 Jeep?
No. Each car has unique code embedded in its remote.
I agree with Mark – The doors with not lock via the power button while the door is open on my 2004 limited.
the doors don’t lock when the key is on the ignition, someone help me please, thanks
i want to know about 1995 grand cherokee, is it da same way
with door open and key in ignition, the doors will not lock….it is a safety mechanism not to lock your keys in the car.
I tried it on my 2004 limited …several times…could only lock the doors from the passanger side…still didn’t work….fob didn’t do jack..
Try disconnect battery overnight
